Industry Veteran Joins Network in Florida

Industry veteran Timothy D. (Tim) Fitzpatrick has recently joined The PELICAN Security Network in Florida.

Fitzpatrick will serve as Senior Fire & Security Services Representative for PELICAN's Southwest Florida Division.

In his new role, Fitzpatrick will coordinate all of PELICAN's activities along Florida's southern Gulf Coast, with a focus on residential and commercial security and fire alarm accounts. Specifically, Fitzpatrick will concentrate on serving the needs of PELICAN's large base of mandatory (state-law-required) fire alarm systems at high-rise condominiums and multi-family locations throughout the Naples and Fort Myers areas.

In this role, Fitpatrick is charged with meeting, and exceeding, the highest expectations of PELICAN's customers in Southwest Florida; and in fulfilling, and surpassing, the most stringent federal, state, county and locations standards of regulatory compliance in the areas of life safety, security services, property protection and fire prevention.

Highly Recommended:

Fitzpatrick was selected for this role after a thorough search by PELICAN, which included six months of research, recruiting and gathering referrals.

Ultimately, Fitzpatrick was selected based, in part, after the confirmation of numerous professional referrals, as well as the specific recommendation of Shar Hingson, the Chief Fire Safety Inspector (and former Florida State Fire Inspector of the Year) for the Iona-McGregor Fire District.

More Than A Decade:

Prior to joining the Network, Fitzpatrick gained more than a decade of specialized training and hands-on experience in all aspects of electronics, systems integration, security, life safety, property protection, fire prevention and suppression, quality assurance, material coordination and management fields.

A native of Pennsylvania, Fitzpatrick began his professional career as a Quality Assurance Specialist with DRL Laurel Technologies, Inc. in 1999, where he was charged with conducting mandatory inspections of cabling, electronics hardware, wiring sub-assemblies and complete systems in compliance with U.S. Department of Defense standards.

Moving into the telecommunications and satellite fields, Fitzpatrick transferred to Florida and worked in post-hurricane recovery efforts for Sprint Telecommunication Corp. as a contractor with TEC Systems, Inc., and for both DirecTV and Dish Network as a contractor with GT Systems, Inc. from 2004 to 2005.

Management Experience:

From 2005 to 2007, Fitzpatrick gained supervisory and administrative experience as a Senior Construction Manager with US Homes / Lennar Construction Corp., one of the nation's largest home builders. A former "Builder of the Year" and three-time "Builder of the Month," Fitzpatrick had direct responsibility for construction of more than a half-dozen multi-story condominiums and nearly 30 single family homes.

Entering the fire protection field, Fitzpatrick became a Fire Alarm Service Technician for Commercial Electrical Systems, Inc., with responsibility for the entire Collier County (FL) school system.

Rising quickly in this industry, Fitzpatrick was promoted and ultimately became a Co-Owner and Vice President of FirstRate Integrated Fire & Security, Inc. in 2008, which was ultimately sold to a larger fire services provider. At that time, Fitzpatrick joined SafeTech, Inc., where he was promoted to Lead Inspector with direct responsibility for testing for any code violations or faulty equipment and assuring regulatory compliance and UL (Underwriters Laboratories) certifications for all of SafeTech's accounts, including the fire alarm systems for all Lee County (FL) schools and several Charlotte County (FL) schools.

In addition to his on-the-job training, Tim is also certified by the:

  • Fire-Lite Division of Honeywell Corp. in fire alarm control panels, troubleshooting, voice evacuation systems and IPDACT and DACT communications programming;
  • IPC / International Electronics Counsel for J-STD-001 and A-610-C Operator Proficiency Training (circuitry, wiring, electronic assemblies and terminals);
  • Wrightco Technologies as a certified communications installer and inspector (fiber optic cable, telecommunications and electronic alarm systems);
  • ITI / Interactive Technologies, Inc. as a certified installer and service troubleshooter for security, automation and access control;
  • SBCA / Structural Building Components as a certified telecommunications and satellite installer / inspector;
  • NAAA / National Alarm Association of America as a certified alarm installer and inspector;
  • ETA / Electronics Testing Association as a certified fiber optics installer;

A resident of Fort Myers, Tim and his wife, Heather, are the parents of four children.
