Pearson, Walker, Day Joins Pelican Network
The continued growth and expansion The PELICAN Security Network has resulted in the recruitment and addition of three experienced individuals to its Management and Operations Divisions.
PELICAN is pleased to announce the recent additions of:
• Michael W. Pearson as Corporate Controller;
• Dennis N. Day as System-wide Supervisor of Sales & Service;
• and John M. Walker as NICET-IV Certified Fire & Security System Engineer.
Pearson will work out of PELICAN’s Finance Office in Shreveport, LA. Day will be headquartered at PELICAN’s Operations Center in Baton Rouge, LA. And Walker will be based at PELICAN’s New Orleans / Northshore Region office in Covington, LA.
Mike Pearson / Controller
In his new position, Mike Pearson will assume responsibility for all day-to-day financial activities of PELICAN, and will also assist in corporate planning as well as mergers and acquisitions.
Pearson has previously worked with PELICAN Founder / President / CEO Lou Resweber and Vice President / Chief Financial Officer Kevin Hudson at ARKLA Gas Corporation (which has evolved into companies currently known as CenterPoint Energy and Reliant Energy).
At ARKLA from 1978 to 1997, Pearson was primarily involved in the areas of natural gas pipeline accounting, internal auditing, corporate planning and budgeting, ultimately rising to the position of Assistant Vice President.
Subsequently, Pearson served as Chief Financial Officer of North Louisiana Goodwill Industries in Shreveport from 2000 through 2003.
For the past 8 years, Pearson served as Controller for Centenary College of Louisiana, the oldest chartered U.S. liberal arts and sciences college west of the Mississippi River, dating back to 1825, which became nationally-recognized for its academic reputation after moving its campus to Shreveport after the Civil War.
A graduate of Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, AR; Pearson is a Certified Public Accountant, and a member of both the American Institute of CPA’s and the Louisiana Society of CPA’s.
A native of Pine Bluff, AR, Mike and his wife, Donna, reside in Bossier City, LA and are the parents of two children.
Dennis Day / Sales & Service
Dennis Day previously provided independent consulting services to PELICAN CEO Lou Resweber for more than three years prior to joining the Network.
Day will now assume full-time responsibility for coordinating all system-wide sales and service efforts throughout The PELICAN Security Network, with a specific emphasis on marketing security and fire systems for business and commercial applications.
Previously, Day gained nearly 25 years’ experience in the security industry – a career highlighted by long tenures with two of the largest security services providers in the United States.
From 1988 to 2002, Day was active in sales with ADT Security Systems (Boca Raton, FL), a division of Tyco International and the nation’s largest alarm company, working as a Residential / Commercial Sales Representative, Integrated Systems Sales Specialist, Regional Major Account Manager and State-Wide Commercial Sales Manager.
From 2002 to 2005, Day was with Interface Security Systems (St. Louis, MO), the nation’s 12th largest electronic security company, as a Regional Sales Manager.
Day has also worked as general manager and national sales director with Access Automation & Controls, as a senior security and fire systems specialist with Johnson Controls, and as an industrial sales representative with Custom Security Systems of Baton Rouge.
A graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in criminal justice, Day began his career in law enforcement, serving in the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Department before entering the electronic security field. He holds a certification for advanced security protection technology and “required” (state-law-mandatory) fire detection and suppression from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology (NICET).
A native of Baton Rouge, Dennis and his wife, Claudia, reside in Clinton, LA and are the parents of four children.
John Walker / NICET Fire Engineer
John Walker has nearly 20 years experience in the integrated electronics field, with a specialization in the areas of fire detection and suppression.
Walker began his career in the life safety and property protection industry in 1993, working for a number of firms including DynaMark Security, Pratt & Landry, CidComm Security and InterTech Security Solutions.
The majority of his professional career has been spent with Access Logic, Inc., a nationwide company with extensive operations in the New Orleans, LA area.
For more than 14 years, Walker has served as the Project Manager and Superintendent responsible for fire and security service and inspections for more than 185 buildings at the U.S. Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NAS-JRB) at Belle Chase, LA, headquarters for a wide variety of naval and aeronautical (aviation) facilities, including the Alvin Callendar Air Field, and home of the 159th Fighter Wing of the U.S. Air Force.
In his new role, Walker will be part of the ongoing expansion of that part of PELICAN’s business focused on “Mandatory” (state-law-required) Commercial Fire Detection / Suppression Systems. He will report to Jack Mitchell, head of the new Commercial Fire Division, and Manager of Sales for Alarm & Security Technologies.
Walker holds a NICET Level III certification in advanced fire alarm (detection and alert) systems, and a NICET Level I certification in fire suppression and inspections and testing of fire sprinkler systems, as well as in fire system and special hazards design, installation, testing and inspections, and with additional certifications / experience with Silent Knight, FCI-Gamewell, Firelite, Ademco and GE panels and Security Information Systems (SIS).
A native of Metairie, LA, John studied at Delgado College and Nichols State University.
He and his wife, Linette, are the parents of one daughter.
